Stupid People 1

OK, so let me explain the name of this blog.  When my, now 13 year old, son and I would be in the car going anywhere we would play "slug bug" or our version, "yellow car". You know the game, you see a Volkswagen Beetle and you yell out slug bug and hit the other person.  Well, when he was little we played slug bug but then one day he just said, "yellow car" and hit me.  Well, slug bug now became any yellow vehicle we would see on the road.  I guess this was a fun mother-son game that was unique to us.

It all started one day while in the parking lot of HEB we were driving down one of the parking lanes that was one way and someone came dashing down the opposite way.  My son suddenly yelled "stupid people" and hit me.  I knew right then and there that this would become our new game.  You see, he got the saying from me because every time I would see someone in public doing something stupid I would say "AH!!!! Stupid people!"  This transferred over to us saying "stupid people" to one another when we would do something dumb at home and laughing.  So now instead of playing slug bug or yellow car, now we play stupid people.

So this is my first blog of stupid people and mine and my son's eyewitness accounts of stupidity. If you are the person or people we saw doing the stupid things, this is in no way to offend but maybe you will be cognizant of your stupid behavior.  I know I have been guilty of some of these things myself and when my son says "stupid people" to me, it makes me think the next time around.

Since this game started in a parking lot it seems fitting that my first stupid people blog start in the parking lot as well.  One of my biggest pet peeves in a parking lot is when people open their car doors and hit other people's cars.  Come on, if you SQUEEZE into a parking space or park to close to the other person's car, what do you think is going to happen when you open the door? Then you look around to see if anyone saw you, not like if you are really sorry or you would do anything if you were seen.  If you were really worried about it you would have parked correctly or you would have held on to your car door when opening it so it wouldn't have hit the other car.

What's worse is when you hit someones car with your car right in front of the person and you just LOOK at them and don't even say a word.  You even look at them like it's THEIR fault.  Really?  Come on people have some parking lot etiquette, at least say you are sorry, even if you are not.

Another parking lot faux pas is your runaway carts.  Well some of them are runaway and some of them are actually pushed away.  What do you think is going to happen to the cart?  If you have good aim it might end up in the cart lane but what if you didn't look and the cart cage doesn't have something to stop the carts?  This actually happened to me, no I wasn't the stupid person shoving the cart, I was on the other end where the front of my car got hit by the cart.  There was an older lady (not really old maybe in her 60's) and she took the cart and pushed it with all her might into the cart cage.  Well the cage didn't have a stopper or an end.  Instead the cage had an empty trashcan at the end of it.  It just so happened when she shoved, with what seemed with all her might, the cart came barreling down and pushed the empty metal trashcan into the bumper of my car.  She just looked until she saw me mouthing some words and getting out of my car.  I   came around the front to see if any damage had been done to my car and she stared at me dumbfounded and said, "I didn't know there wasn't a back." Not even an apology!!!!!!  Come on, not only was that plain stupid but it was RUDE on top of it.

I have to be hones,t it probably could have happened to me.  I didn't always look at the back of these cages before that day.  Now I'm always cognizant of where I'm putting my cart.  Hopefully, this blog will help you with parking lot etiquette and at least make you a little bit more aware of your surroundings.  Hopefully, you won't be the person I'm saying "AH! Stupid people," to as I'm in my car in the parking lot!
